At Yealmpton, we aim to inspire a love of writing. We do this by introducing children to a range of engaging literature that provides the inspiration for their own writing. Through their time at Yealmpton, children develop their understanding of different genres and styles of writing - from traditional tales in Year 1 to persuasive writing in Year 4 and atmospheric stories in Year 6. Children are encouraged to create rich and detailed writing that is technically accurate, with a focus on spelling, grammar and punctuation.
The National Curriculum provides a framework that guides the writing skills and learning of the children as they progress through the school.
