12.03.21 Making Edible Soil

Today we did investigated real soils and identified which type of soil they were by feeling the texture of the soil, looking at the size of the soil, trying to mould the soil into a shape, seeing how it reacts to water and testing if it was porous.

Afterwards, we learnt about the layers in soil and made edible soil to represent each layer. The bedrock was made of chocolate chips, the sub-soil was made of chocolate mousse, the top soil was made up of crumpled biscuits and we used green sprinkles and gummy worms to represent the organic matter. It was lots of fun and very scrummy!
